Happy Thanksgiving, people!
As the title says...Happy Thanksgiving!
I have made a grave decision that will affect all versions of Clan Keeper for years to come: No Databases. It will be so much easier on me for deployment and compatibility to use plain files. I'll be able to use Java Web Start! Hurray! Now if only I can figure out a good splash screen... Anyway, I'll create .clan files (it's funner when you can have your own file type) with Clan objects. Each Clan object has Vectors of warriors, apprentices, elders, kits, etc. For leaders, I'll have Leader, Deputy, and MedCat objects. Then I can use object input and output streams. Still not as neat as SQL and a database, but certainly not as messy as the second try at Clan Keeper, the failed version that used arrays. To me, this Clan Keeper is Clan Keeper 3, but to you guys its Clan Keeper 1!
Anyway I have a bunch of new ideas for other stuff to add for new versions. I can do prophecies, history, and maps for each clan, and a "History" and "Notes" section for cats. That will make it a lot easier for people to really get their brains going on their clans. I would like to be able to document such things myself!
Now if NetBeans will stop crashing and if the Start menu bar will stop acting funny, I can get working. See you at the downloads!
Speaking of downloads....(this entry is getting a bit long) I'm going to upload right after I'm done the updated main page section plus the Clan Keeper site. Clan Keeper site is the related link. There's forums and more for EVERYBODY! Hurray! Questions about Clan Keeper go there! See you!
